ROUNDUP 24
By Don Bundrant

Another fantastic Healey weekend!

Marble Falls, deep in the Texas Hill Country, provided a great venue for Roundup 24.
Hills! Lakes! Wildflowers! Healeys! Friends! Fun!

In Dallas - Ft. Worth, Friday dawned clear but windy. Most of us, already packed, loaded up and headed south. Upon arrival at the Hampton Inn in Marble Falls and following a quick check-in, most of the group headed for the Hospitality Room for some refreshment, meeting old friends, taking time to reflect on the trip down.

Saturday’s efforts began at dawn with Healey washing and polishing in preparation for the morning’s event, The Popularity Car Show.

The Popularity Car Show was held in a short drive away from the motel at the Lakeside Pavilion parking lot. Again, some great-looking Healey iron was on display — 100s, 100-6s, 3000s, Bugeyes, Square Bodies, a Jensen Healey — most in stock trim; others displaying varying degrees of modification.

The afternoon Rallye was a laid-back trip, allowing the participants to enjoy the scenery along with some history, as the route wound its way by Longhorn Caverns and the area lakes. It was a good ride over easy to follow roads and was a great top down venture.

Here are the Rally participants receiving directions from the Rally Master
(No, the Rally Master does NOT have 4 legs. he was moving when I took the pictures)

Saturday evening, participants gathered at the Lakeside Pavilion, for a group photo and the evening meal/bull session.

Sunday morning was dedicated to the Autocross and the Awards Brunch. The course was laid out in a school parking lot, providing the contestants lots of space to put their Healeys through the paces.

The South Texas Healey Club did a fine job. Roundup 24 was a well-coordinated fun-filled event; although attendance seemed a little lower than usual, the NTAHC was well represented again.

2005 is to be the silver anniversary for Roundup. This event will be coordinated by the NTAHC.

Plan on joining your fellow North Texas Austin Healey Club members next April to make this a most memorable Healey event.
